International press distributors come together to support Charlie Hebdo

President Carine Nevejans at the unity demonstration in Paris

Distripress the International Association for the Promotion and freedom of the press, which brings together nearly 400 publishers and distributors, reported the exceptional mobilisation of distributors in support of Charlie Hebdo.

For the first issue after the attack on the offices of Charlie Hebdo in Paris the global distribution community will work together to ensure not only the sales success of this edition but more importantly sending a strong message supporting freedom of expression.

Press distributors will waive their fees for the edition scheduled for release on Wednesday January 14th including MLP in France, Naville in Switzerland, INP in Portugal, LMPI in Canada, AMP in Belgium, SGEL in Spain and all the Presstalis subsidiaries both in France and abroad.

In addition to the international markets who normally receive Charlie Hebdo (8 countries plus the French overseas territories) 20 more have asked for the magazine of which 7 will be supplied this week.

"This exceptional international cooperation demonstrates the commitment of Distripress members for the right to think and write freely and to fight for fundamental publishing freedoms" says President of Distripress Carine Nevejans.

Distripress members want to express their shock at this barbaric act and to send their sympathy and condolences to the victims and their families" said Distripress President Carine Nevejans.
